R.16
Short for Recommendation 16, R.16 is the FATF standard requiring crypto firms to share sender and recipient info for anti-money laundering.
R.16 (Recommendation 16) is a key guideline from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) known as the “Travel Rule” in the context of crypto. It mandates that Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) and financial institutions must collect and share identifying information about both the sender (originator) and recipient (beneficiary) for virtual asset transfers above a set threshold. R.16 is not a law itself, but a global standard that countries implement through their own regulations.
